As stated on the official World Karate Federation website, Petru Comănescu produced one of the big upsets of the day.
Behind this outstanding result are more than 13 years of sacrifices, perseverance and hard work.
Petru was in 2019 the Romanian with the best results ever as a Cadet in WKF official tournaments, in Kata discipline.

As a result he won the right to participate in the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Paris before the Olympic Games.
All started with a child and a coach who dare to dream high.
NUMBER 1 IN THE WORLD!!!
In 2021 Petru Comănescu became the Romanian with the greatest results ever in WKF Karate:

A TEAM BUILT TO EXCEL
Petru Comănescu is the most performant in WKF official tournaments, but is not the only great athlete trained by Ovidiu Jelea.
In the dojo are 5 black belts: Katinka Gyorfi, Alexandra Ioniță, Konrad Gyorfi, Petru Comănescu & Ovidiu Jelea.
NO COMPROMISES!
Ovidiu Jelea was certified with 3 DAN Black Belt by the World & European Champion Luca Valdesi and his father & trainer Andrea Valdesi.
The best athletes in the team coached by Ovidiu Jelea were also certified with 1 DAN Black Belt by Andrea & Luca Valdesi.
It is a great satisfaction for a instructor to lead a karateka from his first day in the dojo until he graduates to black belt.
When the examination is held by some of the greatest technicians in the world, the satisfaction is even higher.
This is the essence of Ovidiu Jelea’s coaching philosophy: NO COMPROMISES!
